Halloween at Sydney Care Support: A Spooktacular, Inclusive Day in the Hills 🎃
A warm, inclusive Halloween for our community
On Friday, 31 October (6:00 pm) we hosted a community Halloween celebration designed for older adults, people with disability, carers and local families across the Hills District—including Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Kellyville and Rouse Hill.
Our goal was simple: safe, sensory-friendly fun with zero barriers to participation. From quiet zones and accessible pathways to plenty of friendly volunteers, we made sure everyone could enjoy the night at their own pace.
We loved seeing so many lovely faces from our community—sharing lots of treats and enjoying activities like face painting and pumpkin decorating.
What we did in NDIS event in hills district (highlights)
Community smiles & treats – We welcomed plenty of lovely faces, shared treats, and ran face painting and pumpkin decorating stations.
Costume welcome & photo corner – Guests were greeted by our team for quick photos (optional) with friendly prompts and props.
Sensory-friendly activities – Tactile crafts, soft lighting and low-volume music for those who prefer calmer spaces.
Pumpkin & mask decorating – Easy, mess-managed stations with adaptive tools and carer support.
Accessible games – Ring toss, beanbag bowling and “count-the-bats” scavenger cards with visual cues.
Treat table with dietary options – Clearly labelled gluten-free, nut-free and low-sugar options.
Carer chill-out area – Tea, coffee and a quiet space to rest and connect with other carers.
Prize moments – Inclusive recognition for “Kindest Helper,” “Best DIY Costume” and “Friendliest Spirit.”
Information corner – Friendly staff answering questions about in-home care, respite, community participation and how to access My Aged Care or the NDIS.
We designed activities so guests could drop in and out without pressure—stay for 15 minutes or the whole evening.

Why events like this matter?
Community events are essential to wellbeing and social connection—especially for older adults, carers and people with disability. They reduce isolation, create friendships and show what inclusive activities can look like in everyday life. For us, Halloween was more than costumes; it was about belonging.

Thank you to our community
